Lees Paper Staining Co. Ltd
Biographical Display
Lees Paper Staining Co was a wallpaper manufacturer for some years, operating from the County End Mill, Springhead, Oldham, England, before being acquired by the Wall Paper Manufacturers (WPM) conglomerate in 1934. It was purchased along with three other companies because of its strong links with the retail trade especially at the inexpensive end of the wallpaper market – until then, WPM had concentrated more on higher quality wallpapers sold through decorators. In 1936, Lees Paper Staining Co moved to a new home in Oldham, a former spinning mill known as the Rome Mill. Lees Paper Staining Co remained a branch of WPM until 1965 when the conglomerate became part of the Reed International Group.
